Vallourec & Sumitomo Tubos do Brasil recently started up the meltshop in its new plant in Jeceaba, Minas Gerais. The Consteel® EAF was designed for the production of one million t/year of liquid steel based on a very flexible mix of metallic raw materials, including hot metal, pig iron and scrap in various percentages. The article deals with the implemented design and engineering solutions as well as other aspects of the project that decisively contributed to its success.
