The market for fully processed non grain-oriented (NGO) silicon steel requires superior coating control for a broad range of thicknesses and coating products. Unfortunately the existing annealing and coating lines installed in the past do not always meet these very high quality demands due to outdated design of the coating section. The roll coater technology, on the other hand, ensures best results and is widely used also in silicon steel production. It can conveniently replace older coating equipment with a limited investment and short down time. This paper highlights the advantages of replacing older design sections.
